Hello and happy (belated) new year! I have quite a few things in store for 2024 including gallery restocks, a few web shop updates, and more. Thanks for reading and, as always, for your support!
Charlie Cummings Gallery Restock
My first big restock of the year is here and available through Charlie Cummings Gallery online and in person. They recently sent out an announcement email and I was deeply touched by their description of my work - I wanted to share it here with you.
“Sara Morales-Morgan's narrative porcelain represents deeply personal explorations of inner life, emotion, identity, and the passions that drive us. Through gorgeous figures, decorative plates, and wall sculptures lavishly illustrated by a deft hand, Sara builds narratives that mythologize, rather than minimize, the human experience. Using iconography that is both personal and familiar, Sara weaves a rich tapestry vital with life experience, hopes, and dreams. Sometimes reading like snatches from European fairy tales and sometimes surrealist forays, her magnetic characters evoke wonder, their clothing and bodies serving as canvases for Sara's spectacular illustrations. Domestic scenes on her eye-catching plates mix the familiar with fantasy elements and symbols. Her sculpted flower arrangements combine relief with illustration, freezing flowers forever in luminous color in clay, all of her pieces capturing flashes in time and ephemeral feelings like quicksilver to bring magic and beauty to our moments at home. Sara lovingly crafts each of her pieces with enormous attention and care, imbuing them with quality and impact for the ages.”
Upcoming inclusion in the NCECA Gallery Expo
The annual NCECA conference (for clay aficionados) will be March 20-23 in Richmond, VA this year and I’m happy to share that I will have work in the Gallery Expo with Alma’s! Alma’s is a wonderful local gallery that I’ve been lucky enough to show with for the last few years. This will be their first big introduction to the ceramics community, so let’s give them a warm welcome!
